Mobile banking app for DNB bank
Mobile banking has gained significant popularity over the last decade. According to Market Research Future (MEFR), mobile banking market size was valued at USD 0.941 billion in 2022 and is projected to reach a value of USD 1.3 billion by 2030, exhibiting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15.06% during the forecast period (2023-2030).
Situation
With mobile banking becoming increasingly popular, branches in Lithuania and Latvia of one of the largest Norwegian banks – DNB – preferred a substantial update of its mobile banking app.
At that time, DNB had two strategically important branches in Lithuania and Latvia, offering a full range of financial services, including loans, savings, advisory services, insurance and pension products for retail and corporate customers.
Years ago, DNB’s existing mobile banking app provided only general information, did not support everyday banking services and lacked usability. Accordingly, based on global experience and consumer behaviour research within Nordic countries, DNB wanted to provide their customers with the opportunity to use the financial services on their smartphones in an easy and convenient way.
Therefore, the Baltic Amadeus team proposed a customised mobile banking solution.

Solution
A hybrid mobile app was developed by combining a native experience with WebView functionalities and capabilities. It enabled rapid development, support, and flexibility. Most frequently used application functions were developed using native OS capabilities, and others were moved to the Web part.
The Baltic Amadeus team, in partnership with the client, one of the first on the market, developed EasyLogin functionality. The EasyLogin provides secure access to various banking operations by logging in with just a four-digit PIN code, allowing users to check their accounts, statements, and balances. Also, carry out transactions quickly and easily between main account and sub-accounts and use transaction templates to quickly perform common transactions with minimal data input.
Furthermore, other banking operations, such as transactions in euros, payment status tracking, deposit information, loan information, and currency converting, were developed and implemented within a mobile banking app. All these functionalities can be smoothly performed in the app using standard authentication methods such as code cards, PIN generators, and mobile e-signatures.
Added value
The newly upgraded app lets end-users perform daily banking operations using mobile devices easily and conveniently. Also, the mobile banking app provides all the needed features together in one place and gives users a full overview of their finances.
The mobile banking app creates a personalised experience for users, displaying content and attributes that are most relevant to each user. It contains push notifications, personalised in-app recommendations, special offers, and more.
In addition, the DNB mobile banking app provides information regarding the exchange rates or the nearest ATM and a branch, as well as the ability to call or send an inquiry by e-mail without any additional steps.
The mobile banking app was developed with top security requirements in mind, too. Money remains secure in the account even after losing the phone, as the “Predefined payment” functionality allows users to make payments only by using transfer templates created in advance. Also, all other local money transfer operations must be confirmed using a password generator, mobile signature, or the usual transaction authentication number (TAN).
