Vesta Consulting (further – VESTA) is a sustainability consultancy that empowers businesses to thrive on the cusp of change. VESTA looked for an IT partner that could offer a tailored solution for their internal project budget management processes. Read on to learn more about the solution we provided for VESTA!
VESTA used a custom project budget planning and management system built on Excel files. Managing multiple Excel files increased the risk of errors, data duplication, and corrupted formulas, undermining data accuracy. It also hampered scalability and collaboration across departments.
Attempts to adopt a standardised solution have faced challenges. GDPR compliance requires manual calculations to protect salary data, complicating project costing. Additionally, VESTA’s use of the percentage-of-completion method for revenue recognition is rarely supported by standard systems. To tackle these limitations, we designed and implemented a tailored project budget management system.
We developed a web-based solution specifically tailored to VESTA’s internal processes. Our team designed this system to accommodate VESTA’s revenue recognition method. We also created interactive Power BI reports to provide real-time insights into employee utilisation, project status, and detailed drill-down capabilities.
Our team integrated with VESTA’s existing tools, including Nav in Excel format, to ensure smooth data flow. Additionally, we built the system on Azure infrastructure, offering the necessary scalability and security. Our team handled the entire process, from design to integration and development. It ensured the system aligned with VESTA’s requirements.
We developed a fully functioning system that allows the client to manage and track project budgets more accurately and efficiently. The new web-based solution ensures smoother data flow, reducing the risk of errors and data duplication. The system’s integration into VESTA’s existing tools and its compatibility with their unique revenue recognition method provides a more streamlined and reliable approach to managing project costs.
The client will begin using the system, starting its new financial year in January 2025. At that point, the team will closely monitor the system’s performance and gather valuable metrics to optimise its use further. During this period, we will continue to provide ongoing app support and maintenance services to ensure the system runs smoothly and meets VESTA’s evolving needs.
