eCommerce platform for the global maritime Enterprise Asset Management provider

One of the key players in maritime logistics – Star Information Systems – decided to address this need by upgrading its eCommerce platform. Therefore, they teamed up with a technology partner, Baltic Amadeus.
This case study delves into the successful collaboration between Star Information Systems and Baltic Amadeus, which led to the development of a powerful eCommerce solution benefiting maritime service customers worldwide.
Situation
Star Information Systems is a worldwide maritime Enterprise Asset Management Systems (EAM) provider. They serve diverse vessel types, including tankers, bulkers, liners, chemical and gas carriers, fishing boats, passenger ferries, offshore support vessels, seismic ships, drilling rigs, and dredgers.
Due to the growing volume of their business and data processing needs, the old Star Information Systems web-based eCommerce solution, which was developed over a decade ago, could no longer provide the necessary speed and performance.
Moreover, due to the limitations of the existing database structure and software in handling large data volumes, the client faced challenges in implementing new features to stay competitive. Looking for an IT partner, they contacted Baltic Amadeus to upgrade their eCommerce system.
Solution
Our team proposed a brand-new Microsoft ASP.NET MVC technology-based solution for Star Information Systems. Additionally, we created a new UX/UI design, providing an upgraded system graphic design and file structure.
During the project, our team worked on developing detailed specifications for the system’s functions. We also fine-tuned and clearly defined new features for the upgraded eCommerce solution.
Furthermore, our team conducted an integration analysis with the client’s order system, and we carried out new system programming tasks after conducting a thorough analysis of the old system.
Added value
The upgraded eCommerce system noticeably boosted the speed and quality of user operations. Users of Star Information Systems can now swiftly receive, and handle supplier offers and easily place orders.
Moreover, the implemented solution now maintains consistent operating speed regardless of data volume. The UX/UI design and graphical design changes have removed information overload, making the system more user-friendly and providing a clearer experience.
Finally, adding a new message-sending function enables users to send messages to specific recipients. Additionally, we have laid the groundwork for seamless integration with third-party systems, enhancing its versatility and expanding its capabilities.
